ProsperMath

How ProsperMath earns your trust.

Financial information should explain where its numbers come from, what they leave out and who is responsible for keeping them accurate.

Our publishing purpose

ProsperMath publishes calculators and explanatory guides for people trying to understand a specific financial decision. A page must answer a recognisable question, allow readers to examine the assumptions or provide context that helps them use a calculator responsibly. We do not create near-duplicate pages simply to target different phrases, and we do not present projections as predictions.

Who creates the content

Pages are published by the ProsperMath Editorial Team. We do not invent professional qualifications or imply that a general calculator understands a reader's personal circumstances. ProsperMath provides educational information rather than regulated financial, investment, tax, mortgage or legal advice. Important decisions should be checked with the relevant provider, authority or a suitably qualified professional.

How calculators are checked

Each calculator begins with a defined question, a documented formula and a set of stated assumptions. We test normal examples as well as edge cases such as zero rates, very small values, unaffordable debt payments and comparisons that produce no saving. Calculations use unrounded internal values; display rounding is applied only to make results readable. Currency selection changes formatting, not exchange rates.

Where a tool models tax allowances, pensions or national savings rules, the page links to the relevant official authority and identifies the tax year or review date. Those tools are illustrations: eligibility, product rules and individual circumstances can change the answer.

How guides are prepared

Every guide is built around a concrete reader question. Worked examples show the inputs used so readers can reproduce the result in the linked calculator. The guide must discuss the trade-offs and limitations, not merely repeat a formula or fill space around a search phrase. Regional facts are checked against primary sources such as government departments, regulators and official statistics agencies. When an official source is not available, we prefer established consumer-finance bodies and identify the source directly.

Use of software and automated tools

ProsperMath uses software to perform calculations and may use automated tools during research, drafting and site production. Automation does not replace page-level review. Before publication, we check the question being answered, arithmetic, links, assumptions, language and whether a reader could reasonably reproduce the example. We do not publish unreviewed bulk text.

Review dates and changing rules

A review date records when the substantive page was last checked; it is not changed merely to make an old page appear new. Evergreen explanations are reviewed when their underlying method changes. Time-sensitive regional pages are checked when a new tax year, contribution limit or official rule is announced. Readers should still confirm current rules with the linked authority before acting.

Corrections

If you find an unclear assumption, broken source or calculation that appears wrong, email hello@prospermath.com with the page address, inputs and expected result. We investigate reproducible issues and correct the calculator or explanation where needed.

Commercial independence

Advertising helps support free access to ProsperMath. Advertisers do not choose calculator assumptions, rankings or conclusions, and advertisements are kept distinct from site navigation and calculation results. If the site later uses affiliate links or sponsored material, that relationship will be clearly disclosed on the relevant page.
